The Garden Route

Travel along one of South Africa's most spectacular stretches of coastline...

The Garden Route is a stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa which extends from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the Eastern Cape, a mere 300km between the two points. It is one of the most scenic stretches of coastline in the country and offers a host of delightful accommodation and places to visit.

Locations along the way include Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley, and George, the Garden Route's largest city. The route is also home to ten nature reserves as well as a number of marine reserves hosting soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a rich variety of marine life. The various bays along the Garden Route are visited by the endangered Southern Right Whale during the months betwen July and December when the whales come to calve.

The Garden Route offers a unique combination of activities and sights from modern golf courses, to age old forests, artistic communities and craft markets, adrenalin inducing activities like bungee jumping, modern shoppping malls, mountain hideaways and beach holidays.

With so much to do and see in this area, the secret to travelling the Garden Route is to always have enough time to stray from the beaten path to disover new and memorable places and things.
